Joseph stürzte durch die Abdeckung der Klärgrube, und Tom sprang ohne Zögern hinterher. Er hielt seinen Sohn nach oben in Richtung der wenigen verbliebenen frischen Luft und harrte so aus, bis die Rettungskräfte eintrafen. Joseph überlebte. Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa of Jerusalem has expressed his condolences following the deaths of two Palestinian Christian women in an Israeli air strike on Gaza City. “With deep sorrow and grief,” the Patriarch mourned Maysa Khader Ibrahim Abu Daoud (Ayyad) and Mary Hafez Michel Najjar (Abu Daoud). The two women, who were mother and daughter, were killed in the strike on the night of October 2. On behalf of the Patriarchate, its clergy and faithful, Cardinal Pizzaballa extended his “deepest condolences” to the families of the two women and to Gaza’s Christian community. He prayed that their relatives and loved ones might find comfort, strength and hope in their loss. The funeral was held on Saturday, October 3, at the Greek Orthodox church St. Porphyrius in Gaza. Traditional Latin Mass celebrated in Kerala, India. On October 2, Fr. Melvin Watts FSSP, celebrated the Latin Mass at the Poor Clares’ Convent in Ernakulam, Kerala. He is a priest with family roots in Kochi and Kottayam, who holds a German passport. Fr. Watts, a former banker, visited his ancestral homeland during his annual vacation. The Mass was offered for the cloistered nuns and faithful, with the permission of Archbishop Joseph Kalathiparambil of Verapoly.

Bishop Schneider: Christ’s enemies have carried out “a hostile takeover” of the Church. At the Catholic Identity Conference in Pittsburgh on October 4, Bishop Athanasius Schneider delivered a diagnosis of the crisis in the Church, describing it as a “hostile takeover” from within. “We are witnesses of an unprecedented crisis of the Church,” Schneider said, pointing to “poisonous doctrinal ambiguities” and even “brazen heresies in the ranks of the high clergy”. “The world Christ warned of seems to have occupied the Church’s strategic administrative positions. There took place a hostile takeover.” Schneider said the crisis now affects virtually every aspect of Church life: “doctrine, morals, liturgy, discipline.” He also spoke of the “marginalization and a true persecution” within the Church of “all what is true Catholic.”

Leo XIV “largely continues the post-conciliar revolution,” Edward Pentin said October 3 at the Catholic Identity Conference in Pittsburgh. “Pope Leo… is very much a continuity figure, continuing the post-conciliar course mapped out by Pope Francis,” Pentin said. While Leo has “changed the tone for the better,” his improvements remain “largely symbolic and small scale.” Pentin said he has “often heard in recent months in Rome” that many around Leo “helped him get elected precisely so he might continue the revolution.” On Leo XIV’s emphasis on unity, Pentin said the pontificate has avoided many “neuralgic issues” by “essentially not talking about them.” He added that “what is unacceptable among the Church’s leadership is fidelity to the Church’s doctrine and tradition”. The part of the faithful, God tells St. Catherine, is to weep over the sins of clergy who do not follow God’s will, and to call upon His mercy for them.
At the same time, He laments the many sins of faithless clergy, including promiscuity, lying with prostitutes, selling graces, usury, gluttony, avarice toward the poor, vanity in seeking high offices, greed for worldly riches, and, as He tells St. Catherine, many more sins far worse than what He describes. He tells her how abominable these sins are in His sight, and how deeply these ministers offend Him. Yet He makes it clear to St. Catherine that His people must give reverence to His priests no matter how sinful the priests may be, and leave the judgment to God
