The FSSPX’s Christ the King pilgrimage opened in Lourdes on October 24, despite Bishop Jean-Marc Micas’ ban on celebrations inside the sanctuary’s basilicas. Pilgrims gathered under a large tent at Maison Saint-Ignace for four Masses. The day also included Stations of the Cross on the Espélugues hillside and individual prayers at the Grotto of Massabielle, as the faithful continued their pilgrimage despite the restrictions.

Islam is a “magnificent faith” for Italian bishops. During the presentation of 11 teaching materials for Catholic religion classes in Italian schools, Rev. Valentino Cottini, former rector of the Pontifical Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies (PISAI), praised Islam. The presentation was attended by the presiding Italian Cardinal, Matteo Zuppi. Rev. Cottini said that the school materials provide "an objective and empathetic presentation of Islam that does not shy away from difficulties, but illustrates this magnificent faith and splendid culture". The materials were developed jointly by Christian and Muslim scholars with the backing of the Italian Bishops' Conference.

A Secretariat of State letter dated September 30, signed by Archbishop Paolo Rudelli and published by Diane Montagna, confirms that the Vatican rejected a request by organizers of the Ad Petri Sedem pilgrimage. Having already been denied permission to celebrate a traditional Latin Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica, the organizers instead requested permission to enter in procession, pray above the tomb of St. Peter, and adore the Blessed Sacrament. The Basilica’s sacristy had indicated that 1 p.m. would be possible, subject to approval by the Secretariat of State.
