On March 10, Dutch Auxiliary Bishop Robert Mutsaerts wrote on his blog VitaminExp.blogspot.com that he sides with Cardinals Müller and Sarah, who hold that the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX) consecrations on July 1 would constitute a schismatic act. He considers Bishop Schneider’s position to be "based more on wishful thinking than legitimacy". If the FSSPX consecrates bishops again without a papal mandate, it is almost certain that the consecrating bishops and the new bishops will be excommunicated. This could be perceived as a deliberate break with Rome. "The first ordinations (1988) could still be seen as a dramatic escalation in a conflict. A second round of episcopal ordinations, planned for July, would be much more difficult to interpret as anything other than a parallel hierarchy, and thus a practical schism." Msgr. The incident occurred in friendly airspace during Operation Epic Fury, and rescue efforts are ongoing. Two aircraft were involved in the incident.
