Verhaftet, brutal gedemütigt, gefoltert und auf die raue Krim verbannt, ertrug er Hunger und Verlassenheit. Er starb am 16. September 655 als wahrer Bekenner und Verteidiger der Orthodoxie. „Bleibt fest im Glauben!“ Eine eindringliche Mahnung eines Papstes, der alles für die Wahrheit gab.
