Rorate-Caeli.blogspot.com published on June 16 a report about a recent pilgrimage in Italy with a priest of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter (FSSP). - This group was denied the celebration of Mass at the Shrine of San Giovanni Rotondo (Padre Pio) and instead celebrated Mass in a hotel basement. - At the Basilica in Assisi, they were also denied permission to celebrate Mass in Latin, and they noted that an Orthodox Divine Liturgy was taking place at the same time. - At Loreto, the group was initially denied permission to celebrate Mass, but the priest was finally able to convince the local authorities. However, in Loreto, there was a station for 'Dialogue and Listening' (pictured). Rather than a priest, a nun was 'listening' without a veil and wearing some kind of Roman collar. #newsWfzjowokcn

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 6,1-6.16-18. Jesus said to his disciples: "Take care not to perform righteous deeds in order that people may see them; otherwise, you will have no recompense from your heavenly Father. When you give alms, do not blow a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets to win the praise of others. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing, so that your almsgiving may be secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you. When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on street corners so that others may see them. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you. When you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites. …Mai

The Real Reason You're Still Anxious Fr. Altier emphasizes the importance of trusting God and giving our anxieties to Him, as He cares for us deeply. He highlights the human tendency to seek control and the irony of trusting ourselves despite our frequent failures. We are encouraged to reflect on the root causes of anxiety, including the impact of modern conveniences and social media, to seek detachment and live in alignment with God’s intentions. Fr. Today, Archbishop Carlo Viganò published the personal letter that he had sent to Pope Leo XIV in January. It appears that - despite Viganò having denied that Francis was a legitimate pope - he recognizes Leo XIV. Monsignor Viganò addresses Leo XIV as "Holiness," asks him to exercise his authority, and seeks an audience with him. Archbishop Viganò recounts his long career in Vatican service, argues that he was punished for exposing corruption and doctrinal problems in the Church, explains how retirement led him to reject Vatican II and the post-conciliar direction of the Church, defends himself against the charge of schism, and urges Leo XIV to break with the errors of the Francis era and the synodal project. The letter contains a noticeably heavy use of first-person pronouns and is full of self-reference, emphasis on personal integrity, descriptions of persecution and mistreatment, frequent presentation of himself as a key witness to major events, and relatively little self-criticism …Mai
I would like to see the first letter he sent to Leo, the original letter he sent when he first requested a Private Audience. That’s what would tell the story.

Who could forget John Vennari. I listened to every talk and conference he had. Any time he was a guest on another show. And of course watched all or most of his show on The Fatima Center. When The Fatima Center was worth it. Without John and Father Gruner, the show died with them. In the first post the owner of the this Catholic site wrote: On Tuesday, April 4, the day of the week dedicated to the Holy Face and in the month dedicated to the Holy Face, John Vennari died. There is no way that this date was incidental as there is no coincidence with God and Our Lady. Mr. Vennari had a great devotion to the Holy Face and made a point to publish articles regularly on the practice of the devotion to Our Lord's Holy Face and the efficacy of such a devotion. I was taught and heard that anyone who is born or dies on a great Feast Day is a good sign for that person. Anyone else ever hear of it? I am highlighting what she wrote for a reason. ------- A second post Rest in Peace, John Vennari ------- …Mai

– Folha de S. Paulo, February 23, 1981 – by Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira I am taking a deep interest in the Polish question and I think the reader should too. It is quite true that for many religious, historical, ethnic, and geographical reasons Poland of itself merits special respect and affection from all Catholics. Consequently, current events there should attract everyone’s attention. But at the present we are led to that conclusion by reasons of an even greater import. For the world, the events in Poland are constituted as a sign of the future. If the unique relationship, which a newspaper has called “the Polish triangle,” between the Warsaw government, the episcopate, and the coalition of workers’ organizations labeled “Solidarity” is successful, then something in communism has changed. Or something has changed in the Church, and therefore, in the world. Something, indeed, that until a while ago was steadfastly deemed immutable. How can I affirm this? Perhaps a metaphor would be …Mai
Protestant Prayer and the Catholic Mass as “Different Pathways to God”: “Catholic” U.S. Vice President JD Vance appeared to relativize the Catholic Church and the Eucharist during a June 16 interview on Fox & Friends. Speaking about what he called the strength of “the American church,” Vance emphasized the diversity of [contradicting] Christian denominations: “You can't be an American Catholic or an American Pentecostal or an American Southern Baptist without running into someone who has a slightly different perspective on faith.” He added: “It's all about Jesus.” Vance sees "different ways" by which people find God: “Different ways, sometimes with 'snake handlers' [evangelicals in Kentucky], sometimes with speaking in tongues, sometimes with a beautiful Catholic mass, but I think all these pathways really matter and they're part of the reason why we do find our path to God.”
JD Vance: "One of the things I love about the American church is there are all of these different pathways to God ... sometimes with snake handlers, sometimes with speaking in tongues, sometimes with a beautiful Catholic mass. But I think all of these pathways really matter."
2nd book of Kings 2,1.6-14. When the LORD was about to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, he and Elisha were on their way from Gilgal. Elijah said to Elisha, "Please stay here; the LORD has sent me on to the Jordan." "As the LORD lives, and as you yourself live," Elisha replied, "I will not leave you." And so the two went on together. Fifty of the guild prophets followed, and when the two stopped at the Jordan, stood facing them at a distance. Elijah took his mantle, rolled it up and struck the water, which divided, and both crossed over on dry ground. When they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha, "Ask for whatever I may do for you, before I am taken from you." Elisha answered, "May I receive a double portion of your spirit." "You have asked something that is not easy," he replied. "Still, if you see me taken up from you, your wish will be granted; otherwise not." As they walked on conversing, a flaming chariot and flaming horses came between them, and Elijah went up to heaven …Mai

Saint of the Day, Monday, August 20, 1973 Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira Today I should comment on excerpts of a biography of St. Germaine Cousin, born in 1579, and died in 1601. “If there was a useless, sad and miserable life from the standpoint of worldly standards, it was blessed Germaine Cousin’s. She had a paralyzed hand, detestable health, no education, a spinning wheel, and staff for guarding a few sheep. Finally, she died aged 22. That was St. Germaine’s life for the world. “She was born paralyzed in her right hand and afflicted with scrofula. Death took her mother soon afterward. Germaine had to spend her life under the authority of a stepmother who hated her, mistreated her, and kept her away from her brothers and sisters. “Laurence Cousin had no tenderness for his daughter and very little concern for her sufferings. That scrofulous wretch had for a bedroom a five feet long cubicle in a corner, some vine twigs for a bed, a little bread and water for food, and a stable. “During …Mai
Pope Leo XIV published today a video message for the climate World Summit in Vienna, Austria. He called for a "just transition" to new economic models, urged wealthy nations to provide greater financial support, and advocated the development of a new international financial framework. All this is presented within the façade and language of Catholic social teaching and care for creation and the poor. Three key quotes, emphasis added. - "These challenges [peace, natural resources, climate change] require international cooperation, together with cohesive and forward-looking multilateralism in order to find effective solutions." - "It is not merely desirable but also genuinely possible that the progress at COP30 [United Nations’ climate summit] can be followed up with a just transition toward societies where the common good takes precedence over profit, and economic models are rooted in solidarity and human dignity. Yet, this requires wealthier countries to meet their obligations to …Mai
